It is definitely one of the most beautiful places that Mexico has to offer. It has to be on your schedule if you plan on visiting the country soon.

Uxmal is a historical and archaeological site that is not only quite old, but it is definitely quite interesting as well. It was way back in 700Ad when the city is thought to have been constructed, although some think that people began to inhabit the area around 800BC, which was about a thousand years before this area was actually built up.

People wonder why there was never a settlement created in the area, but research tells us that there is no source of water in Uxmal, so that is more than likely the reason.

There are many great reasons to take the time to visit Uxmal. All the attractions available are some of the main reasons. At 120 feet tall, you'll want to check out the Magicians Pyramid, which is far taller than any other buildings in the entire city. Enjoy getting to the top for the great view of Uxmal, and some great photos from up there.

The Governor's Palace is another stop you'll want to enjoy, as well as the Nun's Quadrangle, which is place that only military personnel used according to the history of the area.

Want to get the most out of your visit to Uxmal? Then take the time to spend a night here. If you do this you'll be able to avoid some of the big crowds so you can enjoy the area during off hours and have a great time. There won't be as many people out there and you can really get a great look at the place.

In order to use a tripod for taking pictures in the area, you will have to have a permit, and if you want to use a video camera to capture these amazing sites and moments to take home, you have to pay a small fee.

The right clothing is important if you are visiting Uxmal. If you don't have the right clothes you'll be very uncomfortable. Ensure you have shoes that are comfortable for walking and they should be good for climbing as well. Since the weather is so very hot, you'll want to wear clothing that is light or you will definitely regret it.

A variety of exciting archaeological spots you may want to visit in this area include some caves like Grutas de Lotun, Kabah, Sayil, Xlapak, Labna, and the Mayapan area. You'll enjoy these and others.

The weather in the area is always humid and hot. Dress for the weather. Wear light clothes and ensure you have sun screen on all the time. A hat can be helpful for avoiding sunburn too. Of course the warm weather is perfect for exploring the area. A lot of rain would make it difficult to enjoy all the scenery. So, enjoy being out in the sun and have a great time.

If you are in the Cancun area, take the time to check out Uxmal. You'll definitely regret it if you don't take the time to do so. This area is a wonderful place to visit. This is a once in a lifetime experience that you won't want to let go by you.

About the Author:

Your presence and participation will prove to the entire world, that beauty and love have no sexual preference. Latin Hot Party is the very first gay event in Cancun dedicated to all GLBT in the world. Come and let us prove it!

A Baker's Dozen of Travel Tips to Save Money on Travel

1. Be flexible. Alternate either the airport/city or the time/date you plan to travel. A rigid travel schedule is going to make it hard to save money on travel.

2. Ask for discounts or upgrades. Don't accept the hotel rate as written in stone. Often all that is required is simply to ask for a discount or ask to be upgraded to a better room. Same goes for the airplane, ask for an upgrade. If you don't ask you'll never know what you might have been able to get.

3. Remember your AAA card and always ask if there is a discount.

4. Plan your vacation in the off season. For example, if you want to go on a ski trip, plan one for the summer. You will find the resorts charging quite a bit less, and it will be less crowded.

5. When purchasing your airline tickets, don't only look for round-trip tickets but also check the one-way fares. Even if you have to travel on different airlines, use whatever means possible to get the best deal.

6. If you are going to a theme park and planning to be there for more than a few days, opt for an annual pass as it usually only costs about the equivalent of two days' worth of tickets. This will allow you to not only save cash but also to relax and not feel that you need to spend all day at the park to get your money's worth.

7. Take a shuttle from the airport to your hotel if possible. It may take a bit longer to get to your hotel and you'll be sharing with other travelers, but it's kind of fun and you may make a friend of two. It's also much cheaper than a taxi.

8. When traveling on the interstate and looking for a place to stay overnight, steer clear of the new franchise hotels if you want to save. Instead, try the mom-and-pop hotels on the old highways near the interstate that the interstate replaced years ago, or even a bed and breakfast.

9. If visiting a water park, check on their "twilight" pricing. Usually if you go later in the day you save a substantial amount off the entrance fee.

10. Consider vacation packages. All-inclusive deals that bundle air, hotel, and entertainment are often cheaper than buying everything separately. These are sometimes outstanding values for the money.

11. Sign up for email alerts from the online travel agencies. These will let you know when airfare falls below a certain point so you can quickly jump on the deal and secure your tickets.

12. Book early or book late. If you aren't able to book your airfare tickets well in advance, you might score a great deal by waiting till the very last minute. Since airlines want to fill all their seats, they will oftentimes discount heavily at the last minute just to get those seats filled.

13. Have a "staycation." Stay home and save money on hotel, airfare, and car rental, and enjoy the touristy places in your area that you never have time to explore normally. You'll be surprised what's in your own backyard.

Perfect Mothers Day Card

By Marthin Victorovsky

We all know that as soon as the Easter decorations have come and gone from the stores, along comes the Mother's Day card aisle - reminding us of this special holiday that comes every May. But if you're like most of us, we will still wait until the last minute to find the perfect card for mom - combing the racks looking for anything that will concisely say all it is that we feel for our mothers.

From funny to sentimental, there are literally thousands of variations of the Mother's Day card on display for us to purchase. But this isn't our only option. With the rise in popularity of the home computer, there are new ways to create greeting cards that reflect our unique style and allow us to say exactly what we want to say without having to rely on the generic message created by a card company.

You may even customize your card with great wordings or beautiful poems especially meant for Mother's Day. All this and much more is available for you to just choose and send to your mother. Beautiful images, wordings, poems and personalized messages make the entire experience of choosing a Mother's Day card a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

If you're wary of using the computer and don't feel confident enough to create the perfect Mother's Day card yourself, you can still turn to the Internet to find something more unique than what you're likely to find in your local retail store. Look for websites that cater to unique and upscale card designs. You may find something from their stock that is exactly what you wanted; or you may have the opportunity to add your own touches to a card that they provide. In either case, you're likely to pay more than you would pay for a standard card. But the unique and special product that you receive is well worth the price.

One key point to be wary of though; Mothers Day greetings are also available in the form of e-cards, that is electronic Mothers Day cards that can be virtually sent and received through the internet. Mind you, these e-cards are often thought of by recipients to be the result of the sender 'forgetting them' and using an e-card as a last minute, better than nothing, option.

About the Author:

The gurus hate it when their personal secrets about ideal Mothers day cards get exposed! What better way to celebrate this festive event by making St. Patricks Day commemorative crafts. This article is written to provide you with information on how to make a St. Patricks Day craft, specifically Shamrock pins . You may sell these items on St. Patricks Day itself or give it away as gifts or fun memorabilia.

This article is written to teach you about making Shamrock pins crafts . We all know that the Shamrock is the national symbol of St. Patricks Day. An Irish legend states that when you found a shamrock, good luck and good things will come your way. Shamrock is the anglicized word from the Irish term seamrg . It is a three-leafed old white clover and is Irelands national symbol.

Here are the materials to start with your shamrock pins project: you will need a green chenille stem, 3 wooden heart shapes (those used for scrap booking is advisable), green acrylic paint, glue, safety pin and glitter. Cut a 3 inch long chenille stem and glue it at the center of a wooden heart. Glue the two wooden hearts at the side of the center heart. Cover with green acrylic paint and let dry before covering with glitters. When dried, coat with a thin transparent glue and set with glitters. Set the safety pin at the back.

Here is an interesting tidbit about the shamrock: Did you know that the four-leafed clover is often mistaken as a shamrock? The four-leafed clover is primarily the Irish symbol for good luck while the three-leafed clover (shamrock) is a Christian symbol for the Holy Trinity. Nowadays the shamrock is also perceived as a symbol of good luck.

Pin your shamrock pin on your favorite St. Patricks Day t-shirt. Attend the St. Patricks Day Festival in Irish fashion. Dont forget to wish everyone good luck as you pass your unique creation around.

About the Author:

Mara Hernandez-Capili is a writer and a researcher on events in Travel and Leisure. Enjoying Easter to the full!

By Jacky Lee

You must be thinking of what you should do in your joyful Easter holiday and you must be in great holiday mood already, right? First wish you a very fruitful Easter! It has been a long time since we have a nice break during Christmas time (did I have any holiday after that? I forget, my life is in a mess), Easter is really a savior, at least for me it it, it saves me from my horrible and stressful working days (from days which I sleep around 11:00pm, nice right? But I need to wake up at 3am for finishing my work!)! How nice is Easter holiday! But Easter should not holiday, huh?

We know bits about Easter's history. The son of God, Jesus Christ, was sent by God to arrive the world and to save us from all the wrong things we have done in the past. Through his advent and death and rebirth, Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to rescue human beings. This is how Easter came to us. The phrase "Feliz Semana Santa!" is a phrase s by people in Spain to wish their friends and relatives a joyful Easter. In Spanish, "Feliz" equals to "happy", "Semana" equals to "week" and "Santa" means "Saints", The Spanish people reserve a week for Jesus' rebirth! However, their Easter holiday also only lasts for a few days! (What a great pityHave they ever thought of prolonging it?) But what if I am not Christian? How are these things relevant to me apart from as vacation and eating Easter eggs?

During Jesus' rebirth, he brought with him rejoice, remission and rebirth. Easter is the time for us to correct from our mistakes and to refresh ourselves through forgiving our enemies and those who treat us badly.

These are very good wishes to us, filling up with peace, love and harmony, including to non-Christians. It is through our self-reflection and remission that we know ourselves better and 'reborn' spiritually, as we take of our burden of hating others.

Every time we accept our mistakes and try to do better, we improve ourselves by a great deal; every time we accept our enemies and try to forget our hatred towards them, we feel relieved by a whole lot.

Easter is a festival full of love and greetings. So for Christians, please keep on appreciating God's love! For non-Christians, what more to do in your beautiful Easter?

Share your happiness and refresh your beloved ones with greetings through little gifts. cards, emails and of course lovely Pencake ecards add good flavor! What's more?

Enjoy your Easter, hang out with friends and have party times! Then have a sweet dream! And after that? Kick away all your mistakes and hatred away from your mind and be a new you after Easter! Feliz Semana Santa!

About the Author:

Want more Holiday Ecard? Pencake Ecard can help you about Holiday Ecard

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thetravellinggentleman.blogspot.com/2009/04/enjoying-easter-to-full.html' title='
Enjoying Easter to the full! Cancun, the Hottest Gay Friendly Beach in Mexico

By Ricardo d Argence

The most beautiful part in a very beautiful place, the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico is the earthly paradise where you'll find Cancun. With its old and new cities connected by bridges set against the sand and surf, its an incredible place to visit.

The city has expanded greatly since the tourism industry got going here in the early 70's. Today Cancun has more than 600,000 residents and attracts millions of visitors each year, drawn by its beautiful beaches and its reputation as one of the worlds top vacation spots.

With its white sand beaches which invite tourists to relax and sunbathe and its eye-catching turquoise waters, Cancun is a place which keeps vacationers coming back year after year.

Mexico is constantly becoming increasing popular amongst the gay community as it has a very friendly atmosphere, welcoming people from all walks of life not to mention the breath taking beaches.

While of course Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta are also popular choices with gay tourists, Cancun has them both beat. The beauty of the city draws tourists gay and straight alike, but there is nowhere else in Mexico which has the number and quality of gay-friendly resorts and as much gay nightlife as does Cancun.

Cancun's Zona Hotelera is where you'll find the most popular hotels and resorts for tourists gay and straight alike. A short drive from this hotel strip, you can enjoy Cancuns active nightlife, with a large number of clubs to choose from.

The Karamba club is the most popular of Cancun's gay nightclubs. Its been around since the 80's and has been consistently popular since the day it first opened. The Karamba features nightly shows and has an enormous (and always packed) dance floor. If youre looking to go out dancing, this should be your first stop.

If you are looking for a club to end the night just right, then you may want to stop in at Picante. The dance floor is much, much smaller but when the end of the evening rolls around you will find this place packed with all walks of life.

May might be the best time to visit if youre looking for gay-friendly cultural events. May is the month of Cancun's annual International Gay Festival; this event has been held for 5 years now and draws a large crowd.

If you'd rather get away from the cold and visit Cancun in the winter, then the annual Cancun Riviera Maya Gay Fall Festival held in November is definitely worth checking out. Of course, this is Cancun were talking about here; so no matter what time of year you choose to visit, there is no shortage of sightseeing and activities to entertain any tourist, gay or straight.

One thing your trip to Cancun just isn't complete without is a visit to the Mayan ruins located just outside of the city. This is a truly spectacular sight to see " and yes, you will kick yourself if you miss out on this attraction. With world class nightlife, cultural events and always plenty to see along with Mexicos hottest beaches, there's no doubt about it " Cancun is Mexico's most popular gay friendly vacation spot.

About the Author:

Latin Hot Party is the very first great event dedicated to all GLBT in the world. Unlike many others meetings, this event has the enormous advantage of being perfectly organized and structured in order to make you have the best fun ever. Tulum, Gay Travel Guide

By Ricardo d Argence

Mexico is a top vacation spot and there is no doubt why. It is an amazing place that is not just somewhere to catch some sun on the sandy beaches. There are some great hot spots, like Tulum, that let you combine the historic sites and the great beaches for one unforgettable vacation.

Tulum has both a historical spin and a beautiful beach coast. It is located just south of Playa del Carmen and Akumai. Perched on the breathtaking limestone cliffs that overlook the Caribbean ocean you'll find Tulum.

Tulum is a very good combination of history and Mexico's beaches are well known. Instead of traveling all over to see different sites, you'll get to have both kinds of experiences in the same area.

History is important in Tulum. The archeological site here was built between 1200 and 1450. It is clouded in mystery, as are all Mayan ruins.

It was one of the last cities of the Mayans. The highest building in the city is El Castillo, a beacon to guide visitors through the coral reefs.

A unique aspect of the city was the wall that surrounds it in three sides. This wall is seven meters thick and up to five meters tall. The wall features a walkway so warriors could defend the city. The remaining side of the city is protected by the sea.

Today 60 buildings still stand at the site, which are all open for touring. Plaques adorn the walls to guide visitors, this allows for a self guided tour of the ruins.

Tulum also features amazing beaches, like those you expect from Mexico's coastline. They are considered some of the world's top scenic beaches, attracting visitors from around the globe.

The beaches have transparent blue water and white dunes. The coral reefs off the coast are a great place for diving and snorkeling.

The reef at Tulum, the Great Mayan Reef, goes from Cancun, Mexico to Roatan, Honduras making it the second largest in the world. It is 1000 kilometers with 120 kilometers at the Tulum beach.

Like to provide opportunities in the sea off the beach and see eighty four types of people, fish and other sea creatures of more than 450 varieties of coral. It is a true adventure.

Tulum is without a doubt one of the most amazing places in Mexico and has so much to offer. You will always remember your visit to this place, so rich this place is.

About the Author:

Are you looking for some REAL fun? Gifts For Mama

By James Gilbert Pynn

Who doesn't love Mama? Well, the second Sunday in May is reserved for that special lady, you know, the one who gave birth to you. The trials and travails your mother had to endure to get you to where you are today are certainly worth one day out of your life. Take the time to tell or show her how much her sacrifices have meant to you.

The first observance of the day was May 13, 1877, and since then, Mother's Day has become associated with gift giving, brunch, and a general "day off" for mothers in the United States and Canada alike. After all, Canadians love their mothers too. Though it is a legislated day, by act of Congress, the origins of Mothers Day may be found in the Catholic observance of "Mothering Sunday."

Take her to brunch, spend the day with her -- if you can't stand her, take her to a movie. The bottom line is, visit your mother or give her a call at the very least. It will make her day, ironically. A small trinket of your appreciation would be a nice touch.

A national Mother's Day was born at the turn of the 19th Century, culminating in the Mothers Day Proclamation. The Proclamation is at heart a pacifist manifesto, intend of respecting the rights of all people to live without violence and fear. According to local legend, Juliet Calhoun Blakeley, on that May 13, 1877, stepped up to the pulpit to encourage a temperance movement. Just like a mother to insist we not drink too much.

So, celebrate that special day with that special woman. The typical Mother's Day gifts will do, of course, but for those of you from larger families, try sending a group gift. This allows you to pitch in towards a very special gift, like say, a Coach purse, or Armani shirt. Mom will always love what you get her, but how about knocking her socks off with a $1000 gift you only had to pitch a $100 towards?

About the Author:

Your usual Mother's Day gifts will always be cherished, but try something more expensive and better this year. Mother's Day gifts can be as extravagant as a Coach bag or even a new iPhone.

Travel Insurance is a very important part of your vacation and you should certainly ensure that you're protected in case you run into problems abroad.

By Ethan L Bennett

Travel insurance is a very important thing that you'll need to think about before you go on holiday for the first time. Travel insurance is very important - even if you feel very well you should still get travel insurance just incase the worst should happen.

In Spain, if you have a heart attack then the bill could add up to over 35,000 GBP so having travel insurance is very important. Travel insurance can cover you for bone breaks as well which can sometimes add up to a whopping 25,000 GBP in countries other than your home.

You can quite easily pick up cheap travel insurance and the payments are so small that it really is worth having in case you fall ill, or have an accident while you're abroad. A lot of people also don't know that travel insurance isn't just about medial expenses. It can cover other parts of your holiday as well.

Cheap travel insurance can sometimes cover loss of luggage or personal belongings. Losing your passport isn't a funny matter but if you do then you can usually claim on your travel insurance. Travel insurance is so easy to buy that it would be stupid to ignore it - a small accident abroad could end up being a big expense if you're not covered.

There are a variety of travel insurance options available to almost everyone so making the right choice is something that should be done wisely and when you have all the facts. You can choose from single trip travel insurance or annual travel insurance and you should really think about what the difference is between each policy type and what cover it can offer you.

Annual travel insurance will allow you to take an entire years worth of holidays whilst remaining covered for medical expenses and loss of luggage. A lot of people choose annual travel insurance because it's a great way to ensure that you're covered for all your holidays throughout the year.

Annual travel insurance is cheaper than single trip travel insurance and can cover you for up to 200 days abroad which is a lot if you think about it. Single trip travel insurance will only cover you for up to 80 days in most cases and can cost a lot of money if you travel a lot so annual travel insurance is better value for money.

When you take out an annual travel insurance policy you will be told how many days you are allowed to be abroad as stated by your policy agreement. You can then decide when and where you want to go and for how long as long as you don't go over the set amount of days included in your cover.

If you travel a lot or you tend to go on holiday more than once a year then annual travel insurance will definitely be the best option for your needs because you can be free to go where you want. A lot of people only tend to go on holiday once per year and if this is the case then single trip travel insurance will be best for your needs and requirements.

A lot of people tend to lose money if they purchase annual travel insurance because they don't take full advantage of the discounts available and the days you're covered for. Annual travel insurance is definitely the best option if you plan on going on holiday regularly or if you perhaps have property abroad which you holiday to every year.

You only have to fill in one form and that's it you're covered for the year, instead of having to fill out new forms and get new quotes every time you go on holiday. It's simple really; annual travel insurance has some amazing benefits when compared to single trip travel insurance but it depends on your holiday habits.

All in all, there are plenty of travel insurance options available and if you look online then you should find that you get the best deals available. Make sure that you're covered when you go abroad - travel insurance is so easy to find and buy so there's no excuse for avoiding it - it can really help.

About the Author:

Writer Ethan L Bennett discusses opting for travel insurance for your trips. www.burtplan.co.uk offer a fantastic range of travel insurance options. You will surely be able to find something that you want and require.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thetravellinggentleman.blogspot.com/2009/04/travel-insurance-is-very-important-part.html' title='
Travel Insurance is a very important part of your vacation and you should certainly ensure that you're protected in case you run into problems abroad. Achieving top quality homemade party favors will not be difficult at all if you follow the step by step instructions offered in this article.

The potpourri sachets are probably the most classic party favors for girls of all time. All women love fresh scents and flowers, and potpourri combines both of these to create an aromatic keepsake that can freshen up any bedroom, bathroom, drawer, or closet. Begin by purchasing pretty little sachets for potpourri and matching ribbon. Then, you will have to mix a combination of flowers, herbs, spices and oils to achieve the desired fragrance.

One popular combination whose aroma is exquisite combines 4 cups of lavender flowers, 3 cups of patchonly herb, 1 cup deerstongue leaves, 1/2 cup of ground allspice, 1/4 cup of orrisroot, and 1/4 cup of ground cloves. To this mixture, add 10 drops of rose oil, 10 drops of lavender oil, 12 drops of neroli oil, and 1/4 teaspoon of sandalwood oil. Mix all of the ingredients together and distribute the mixture between the sachets. Tie the sachets with ribbon and embellish or personalize if desired.

A cute party favor that your guests will probably enjoy at the very moment that they receive them are the pink candy-filled baby bottles. For this, buy solid pink or patterned pink baby bottles, candy or chocolates, and ribbon. Hershey's kisses, M & M's, and miniature size chocolates or hard candy, are all perfect for this party favor.

Fill each baby bottle with a combination of the different types of candy. Seal the lid onto the baby bottle, and tie a pretty ribbon around the neck of the baby bottle. If you want to add something extra, decorate the baby bottles with fine stickers or embellishments, or, you can personalize the ribbon with the name and date of your baby shower.

Today, tea sets are very accessible and inexpensive; you can sometimes even find some at the dollar store. Most department or toy stores offer a variety of tea sets for great prices. If you decide to theme your girl baby shower a Pink Tea, this baby shower party favor is perfect for you. If your theme is generally feminine and girly, this party favor will work for you, too.

For this you will need your favorite tea bags, teacups, and items to personalize or decorate with. Alter each tea cover by placing a personalized sticker on the front of the tea cover; you can also choose to decorate it with a baby themed sticker. Decorate the teacups with embellishments or ceramic paint, if desired. Put each tea bag inside of a teacup and place on the tables. They are tea-rrific!

About the Author:

Finding the best baby presents can be overwhelming at times. For the Christian faith, it is a universal symbol of Easter. During Easter celebrations it has been dyed, painted, adorned and embellished to show special symbolisms.

This wasn't always how we remember it though. Pre dating the history of easter eggs, they was attributed to pagan rituals whilst the rite of Spring festivals were taking place. It was a sign of the universe for the Egyptians, Romans, Chinese, Persians, Gauls et al. Since antiquated times right up to times we know today, easter eggs at the time of easter have been made to look eggstravagant and exchanged as easter gifts.

The Polish Invasion of the History of Easter Eggs

There are 2 ancient Polish legends which blend folklore and Christian beliefs during the Easter festivities. The first tells a fable of the Virgin Mary's antics. Mary is understood to have gifted the eggs to the soldiers at the cross. She asked for them to be less cruel and wept. It is said that the tears of Mary fell onto the eggs, spotting them with dots in brilliant colors. This is not a far cry from what we do with our eggs today so we can see this story may have shaped the history of easter eggs as we know it.

Another Polish myth that is worth looking at when trying to piece together the history of easter eggs. This one involves another Mary, Mary Magdalen as a matter of fact. It transcribes into a story of another historical event that could help us explain the history of easter eggs and why we color them and exchange them like we do. This legend says that Mary Magdalen went to the sepulcher to anoint the body of Jesus. Mary took a basket of eggs with her as a snack. It is said that when she arrived at the sepulcher, she uncovered the eggs to discover that the outer layers of the eggs were replaced with a fantastic array of colors.

English Traditions

Decorating and coloring of Easter eggs was already a custom in England during the middle ages. The records for the house of Edward I, in the year 1290, have listed an expense for 450 eggs to be gold-leafed and colored as Easter gifts.

What Does Faberge and Russia Have To Do With The Price of Eggs

The most famous version of Easter egg comes from the well known goldsmith Peter Carl Faberge. The Russian Czar, in 1883, commissioned Peter Faberge to create a special Easter gift for the Empress Marie.

One of Faberge's first eggs was a fantastic design with an outer shell made out of enamel - needless to say it would be priceless today. When the outer egg was opened, it revealed a smaller golden egg. The smaller egg when opened, revealed a chicken and the Imperial crown in replica. Does this sound familiar? It is just what we do today when we put goodies inside our easter eggs.

This first Faberge Easter egg was such a success and delight to the Empress that he was ordered by the Czar to create more eggs to be delivered each Easter. This custom was continued by the Czar's son Nicholas II and enabled the creating of 57 specialized Easter eggs.

People instantly fell in love with these gorgeous eggs and began to seek them out and hunt them down - and the easter egg hunt tradition we know today was born. So after we have taken a second to appreciate the history of easter eggs we now know why they are decorated, and why we have easter egg hunts.

About the Author:

All the underground, ninja stealth tactics for easter 2009 can be yours! Jasminum

By John Hills

No climber does more to lift the grey pall of February than Jasminum nudifforum. The yellow flowers on a north or west wall brave snow or arctic frost with equanimity Over a low wall, on a trellis, clipped as an ornament to the front lawn, few soils or situations reduce Winter Jasmine to despair. Each flowering shoot should be cut back in April to within 2 shoots of the base.

There is an old elm nearby clothed in ivy which confirms my regard for this climber. It makes a perfect sanctuary for nesting birds in summer, a column of polished green to lighten the dark days of winter. Some older buildings would be stark ruins without a softening mantle of ivy. No matter that the soil is dry to the point of aridity, or dark with the shade of forest trees, the ivy grows to mask the nakedness of inhospitable earth with quiet efficiency.

The common species, Hedera helix, has no equal as a self-clinging climber or for all-round adaptability. Fortunately, it shows no reluctance :o sport new varieties to such an extent that the choice is becoming bewildering in its diversity. Buttercup, as the name implies, is a good yellow form, which dare I whisper it, always has the same effect on me as flat lemonade. Congesta is slow growing with small grey-green leaves. It is a fine plant for a terraced corner or a large stone in the rock garden.

Polygonum baldschuanicum is a heaven-sent climber for those unfortunate gardeners with ugly buildings to cover, chain-link fences to hide, or air-raid shelters to disguise. My particular bete noir is a tarred shed.

In three years the Russian Vine has covered it completely, even growing through the cracks amongst the tools hanging on the walls inside. White flowers tinted pink open throughout the late summer into autumn. Grown up an oak or similar sturdy support it becomes a curtain of white flower and pale green leaf. Cuttings of the short side branches taken during July - August root without difficulty.

Hydrangea petiolaris is often recommended for a north wall, and while it will admittedly tolerate shade it responds with such alacrity to a position in full sun that I rather pander to it in this respect. The white flowers open in July above the heart-shaped leaves which themselves turn at the first touch of autumn frost to soft yellow. A clematis or the eccremocarpus will add a colourful overtone to the self-clinging hydrangea. Cuttings or layers offer the best results if further plants are required.

About the Author:

In garden planning, a bench, an arbor, and statute can be garden focal points.

They should join in the fun and spend a few days in a Nairobi hotel and enjoy hospitality at it's best.

Nairobi Hotels: Tribe - The Village Market Hotel

Tribe is the name to the new hotel and is adjacent to the village market shopping, recreation and entertainment mall. Located on the leafy suburb of Gigiri, the hotel blends perfectly with the environment which is a quiet and peaceful surrounding away from the noise and hustle of the city center. The architectural design of the hotel makes it clear that it's very unique whereby the interiors portray culture mixed with elegance.

The luxurious 142 suite hotel offers LCD televisions, open-plan bathrooms with showers, traditional African art work, internet connectivity and mood lighting. Modern amenities include a wireless internet access, meeting and conference rooms, a spa and all the catchings that come with five star Nairobi hotels.

Since the village market shopping mall is situated next to the Tribe hotel, visitors do all their Kenya shopping at the complex without the need to visit the city center, furthermore you can also enjoy other attractions such as bowling, mini golf course, movie theater, fully equipped gymnasium, huge water slides and many more. This is something you cannot do in any other hotel in Nairobi.

As the name suggests, "Tribe" is a name that symbolizes togetherness and unity recognizing that we all belong to the same tribe of a universal village, thus bringing people of all cultures together.

The Tribe has done a good thing to the tourism industry and in particular to the Nairobi hotels. Book your stay today and enjoy the unmatched hospitality.

About the Author:

If you are visiting Nairobi either for business or on a safari, check out Tribe hotel where you can sample the jewel of Nairobi hotels with impressive service and right next to the high-end Nairobi shopping complex The Village Market.

Pele Brazil

By Denise I Smithson

One of the all time greats of the game of football (soccer to our American readers) if not the greatest is of course Pele. Pele, born Edison (though he prefers Edson) Arantes do Nascimento on Oct. 23, 1940 in Brazil is nothing short of a legend in the sport. Even those who have never in their life watched a football match know his name.

The game seems nearly inconceivable without him. Pele is a man who seems to have been born to play football. His ball control and speed were both unparalleled; particularly his one of a kind passing skills. Fans serious and casual alike relished every opportunity to watch Pele. It seemed that miraculous plays were in store every time Pele had the ball. In his career, Pele scored 1,283 goals, 12 during World Cup tournaments (in 1958, 1968 and 1970). At the time, Pele was the only player to ever win three World Cup trophies.

Pele was discovered and nurtured by Waldemar de Brito, who began coaching him in 1954. In a mere two years, he began playing professionally and by 1957, Pele was in a starting position on Santos. The same year, Pele won a World Cup - by 1962, he was fielding (and considering) offers from European clubs. The Brazilian government, fearing that Pele would leave for greener pastures, declared him a national treasure, which effectively prevented him from going to a team outside of the country.

He would continue to plat for Santos until 1972, when he formally retired after 17 seasons. He would still occasionally play in more competitive matches however. In 1975, Pele came out of retirement and took a position with the New York Cosmos, part of the fledgling North American League. While he was no longer a young star, Pele spurred a lot of interest in the game in the U.S. and led the Cosmos to a 1977 NASL championship.

In his homeland of Brazil, he is still regarded a national hero. He is well known for his contributions and accomplishments to football and was declared the football ambassador of the world by FIFA. He vocally supports policies that will improve the conditions of the less privileged. During his legendary career, he earned the title \"The King of Football\". His is a member of the American National Soccer Hall of Fame.

About the Author:

Looking for sports information? Babe Ruth Baseball

By Denise I Smithson

Babe Ruth is a player who needs little if any introduction. People the world over know his name and the near-legendary achievements of this man, one of the best known players ever to pick up a bat or glove. You don't need to have been around when Babe was on the Yankees to be familiar with his name and the House That Ruth Built. Even his superstitions are followed to this day. Ruth once said "Whenever I hit a home run, I always make sure that I touch all four bases". Larger than life both in terms of his performance on the diamond as well as in his private life, Babe Ruth is still very much a part of the American psyche. There may never be another player like the Great Bambino in any sport.

Born George Herman Ruth Jr. to parents George Sr. and Kate Schamberger-Ruth in Baltimore, Maryland in 1895, Ruth and his sister Mamie were the only two survivors out of eight children. Ruth did not have an idyllic childhood, often being left to his own devices to get by. When he was only seven, his parents sent him to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, which Ruth looked at more as prison than school. He saw his parents only rarely and rapidly became known by the nuns at St. Mary's as a problem child.

The Babe never like rules, especially regimented rules and was not good at adapting to what was correct-he had his own way, a uniqueness that would follow him to baseball. Perhaps the biggest thing Ruth learned to love at St. Mary's would be his fondness for children; as an adult, he was charitably involved with them as much as he could be. George Jr. shined with talent at a young age and played numerous positions at St. Mary's, often, however, he excelled in catching and pitching. When Babe reached nineteen, Jack Dunn, the manager and owner of the then Baltimore Orioles which was a Boston Red Sox minor league team, was awed at Babe's talent and signed him right away. Once Jack signed him, he was dubbed by his teammates as "Jack's newest babe." From then on, he would be forever known as simply "Babe."

It was not long before Ruth's contract was purchased by the Boston Red Sox, where he would spend the next six years both as a catcher and in the outfield. Ruth became immensely popular with fans for his flair on and off the diamond. With the Red Sox, Ruth played his first World Series in 1916. Ruth pitched a still intact record of 14 innings. In fact, Ruth achieved a record setting 29 2/3 innings with no hits as a pitcher in World Series games alone! This record would last for 43 years. In 1919, an ill-advised trade saw Babe Ruth traded to the New York Yankees (ill-advised for the Red Sox anyway, a triumph for the Yankees). This began the "Curse of the Bambino"; the Red Sox would not win another World Series until 2004!

With Ruth on the team, the Yankees would win 4 World Series and 7 American League Pennants. Ruth hit an amazing 54 home runs in 1920 alone. Babe Ruth proved to be just as popular with the fans in New York as he had been in Boston and became a celebrity. The Yankees stadium, built in 1923 soon came to be known as "The House That Ruth Built". Fittingly enough, Ruth hit three home runs on opening day and later that year, the World Series title. Ruth would separate from his wife of 11 years, Helen Woodford in 1925, with whom he had adopted a daughter, Dorothy. It was not until Helen dies in 1929 that he would marry his companion, the model Claire Hodgson. His first at bat that year, he hit a home run out of the park, which he dedicated to Hodgson.

Throughout his 22-year career in baseball, Babe will forever be remembered for his 60 home runs in 1927, a record that stood until Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in 1961. Sports fans everywhere argue to this day who actually holds this record since Babe hit his 60 in 154 games and Maris hit his in 162 games. No one, however, can deny The Babe's impressive .690 lifetime batting percentage-something that may never be seen again. Along with The Babe, sports writers gave him nicknames like The Great Bambino and The Sultan of Swat.

Another impressive achievement came in the third game off the 1932 World Series. The Yankees were playing against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Babe had already hit one home run earlier in the game, but in the fifth inning, Ruth hit what is believed to be the longest home run ever hit out of Wrigley Field until Sammy Sosa's famous home run in 2002 which landed on Kenmore Avenue!

In 1935, Ruth left the Yankees, disappointed at their refusal to make him manager of the team. He went to the Boston Braves, where he was a player and first base coach. Though he had been promised the manager's job at the Braves starting the next year, Ruth saw that the team would renege on this promise and decided to retire; however, he went out in his inimitable style, hitting three home runs in one of his very last games for a total of 714 in his career. The Great Bambino will be a legend as long as baseball is still played - for his World Series wins, his 2,211 RBIs, his 2.28 career ERA as a pitcher and his colorful personality.

About the Author:

How much do you know about baseball? Nothing But Sports is a great place to brush up on your sports trivia and learn how to swing that bat.

When there's nothing new out there, I like to find something old that I missed. One great way to find good movies is to see what some of your favorite actors have done in the past, and see what you might have missed.

With that in mind I thought I would list a few actors, and list a few of their films. You might find some good movies to watch, and obviously can apply this technique to your favorite performers. I added a separate list of comedians for those of you looking for a good comedy.

A couple of Paul Newman films are: Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, and The Hustler. Tom Cruise has starred in many films, including: The Firm, A Few Good Men, and Mission Impossible. Serena

By Denise I Smithson

From being a timid suburban child in Saginaw, Michigan, Serena Jameka Williams became an outstanding tennis player that currently ranks as the world no.1 by the Women's Tennis Association as of February 2, 2009. At 27, she holds the current titles of the US Open and Australian Open singles champion, has won 20 Grand Slam titles (10 singles, 8 women's doubles, 2 mixed doubles) and is considered the most recent tennis player to have held all four Grand Slam titles simultaneously. With all her successes as an athlete, Serena has won more career prize than any other woman athlete in any sport. In the 2005 issue of the Tennis magazine, Serena Williams was named as the 17th best athlete of the preceding years. Along with her female tennis player sibling, Venus Williams, there is more to see for this woman in action.

Williams is the youngest of the family's five daughters. She was born in Saginaw, MI but moved with her family to Los Angeles while still very young. Her father Richard wanted to see his daughters achieve success as tennis players and began coaching them himself, playing on Compton's public courts. Out of the Williams sisters, Serena and her sister Venus were especially talented players; Serena in fact won her first tournament while not yet five - by the time she reached the age of ten, she had won no less than forty-six tournaments!

The Williams children were all homeschooled; their father stopped sending his tennis playing daughters to national junior tournaments, fearing that they would have to deal with racism on the court. Instead, he sent Serena to Rick Macci's tennis school in Florida, where she trained with Andy Roddick (who Williams actually defeated in a practice match).

Through the years of her intense training, Serena became an outstanding athlete. Although she is primarily a baseline player, she builds her game around taking immediate control of the rallies, making her known as an aggressive player in court. She delivers powerful and consistent serve, return serve and groundstrokes on both forehand and backhand wing. With her playing style, she consistently delivers powerful and smooth motion serves, which was noted as the best in the women's game. Her serves even earned the respects of the crowd of the WTA tour. Serena frequently hits at 120 mph. she even made record with her 127 and 129 mph serve in 2008 at Charleston. Her capability of overpowering her opponents when returning serve is absolute with her ability to hit flat and topspin serves on both corners of the service box.

Besides her unsurpassable technique and skill on the court, she is well known for her personal style. It must run in the family, because the Williams family has founded a clothing line called Aneres. Williams has made many movie and television appearances, as well as having posed for Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue in 2003. She has a number of lucrative endorsement contracts for various products and has formed a partnership with Nike to create custom sportswear. Outside of tennis and fashion, Williams actively participates in charity work, having funded the construction of a Kenyan secondary school and has won the Avon Foundation's Celebrity Role Model Award for her help in raising money for breast cancer research.

About the Author:

Sports quotes will motivate you to be your best in any walk of life. Make Sure You Have A Happy Easter April 2009

By Amen Symmons

When discussing the holidays, regardless of which one, stress will always be apparent no matter how small the festivities you are planning. Ensuring a successful easter april 2009 is no different to any other holiday as any occasion where family and friends get together there is a considerable amount of planning that goes in to it.

People celebrate easter in many different ways, but more often than not family comes over for a huge dinner with all the trimmings. But you must remember that in order to have a great easter april 2009 it doesn't have to all go 100% to plan.

Make peace with the fact that there is always going to be something that goes wrong on occasions like these.

It is not whether or not everything goes on as planned that makes or break the Happy Easter April 2009 holiday but rather your reaction to it all.

By the same token, a successful easter april 2009 is not an inverse function of the levels of stress you incur. It is often the little things that will go wrong that cause you the most stress, like you mom getting caught in traffic etc.

To make sure that all stays well you might as well already be prepared that something is going to go wrong. This way you will not be too shocked when it does and you can just brush it off and have a Happy Easter April 2009 with everyone that you care about.

Being Completely Prepared

If it is your turn this year to host your Happy Easter April 2009 celebration then it is a good idea to prepare well in advance.

While it is already known that you will probably still forget something in the end, you want to try and do your best to get everything you need ahead of time. This is not only to make sure that the number of things forgotten is limited but to also keep yourself cool and calm so you can have a Happy Easter April 2009.

Too many times the people who are hosting the parties or dinners do not have a Happy Easter April 2009 because they are overwhelmed and worried about everything.

Plan your entire meal in advance and start buying things as soon as possible so that you are well prepared.

Stuff like fresh breads and fresh pastries you wont be able to buy weeks ahead of time, so some stuff you will need to get a few days before - just put this stuff on a separate list. Without a doubt, you will be able to pick up all you easter april 2009 decorations weeks before the event which will cut down on the stress levels immensely.

Do what you can now, get your kids and partner to help take some of the strain off you, and you can be sure that you too will have a great easter april 2009 this year.

About the Author:

We scoured every corner of the internet to find everything you ever wanted to know about easter april 2009 ideas. Here is the absolute best source we uncovered, easter april 2009

How To View Films Online

By Bomben Hirons

This is a sampling of the more popular movies put up on the big screen in 2008. These are some of the motion pictures I enjoyed watching this year. I'm sure that you can find a couple of movies that you will enjoy.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: I guess it was a typical night out in Vegas. Young partiers Joy and Jack wake up and soon realize that they had married each other the night before. When they win a $3 million jackpot, there is a debate on who gets the money, so they try to settle it in court. The strange ruling is that they must stay together for six months, and see if they can settle their differences. With lots of money at stake, the battle is on as both want to have the cash for themselves.

IRON MAN: Weapons developer, business mogul, Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is taken hostage by Afghan fighters. They command him to build missiles for the insurgent group. He was wounded when he was abducted, and he has shrapnel lodged in his chest. To survive his injuries, and get away from the rebels, he creates a suit made of armor that makes him super strong. We now have another super hero, Iron Man.

HAMLET 2: Failed actor Mr. Marsh has settled into teaching high school theatre to students who just don't care. When a building is destroyed at the school, the school administration feels that the theater curriculum will be what is dropped. Now fully motivated, he is determined to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he creates.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: On a quest to find his missing brother, science professor Trevor Anderson explores caves in Iceland, and that puts him on a journey to the center of earth. This is a new version of the original 1959 movie that was formed from the classic novel by renowned author Jules Verne. Cast includes Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers.

TROPIC THUNDER: With an abundance of acting talent this movie is a classic spoof. In order to inspire his underachieving super stars to make a true epic masterpiece, the desperate director into the middle of nowhere, and leaves them there by themselves. His theory is to frighten them so they will produce a work of genius, which will be caught on hidden cameras in the area. When the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the spoiled actors are on there own, and they think there acting, but the bullets flying are actually real. Written, directed, and acted in, by Ben Stiller.

STEP BROTHERS: Two forty year old child adults, who both live at home with one parent, are going to share a bedroom because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Having the combination of Reilly and Ferrell acting as these two idiots, and this has the makings for a raucous comedy. This seems like a sure fire bet for a good time this year.

Jumper: Nearing death by drowning, David Rice discovers he has an unbelievable ability. He now knows he can teleport himself to anywhere he desires to be, anytime he wants. He then comes to learn that he is not the only one that has this capability. After years of "jumping" around the planet, he is exposed to hunters that think jumpers are a threat, and need to be eliminated. Now he is in a fight for survival, as the hunters want him dead.

THE CHRONICALS OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN: It is one year later, in their normal lives when, the four saviors of Narnia, Lucy, Susan, Peter, and Edmund are mysteriously pulled back into Narnia. Fearing for his life Prince Caspian has blown the magic horn, praying that he will be saved. In Narnia, 1,300 years have passed since they were Kings and Queens, but they now return to rescue Narnia from an evil fate. With the aid of the bravest in the forest, including, a dwarf, the centaurs, and a very skilled mouse, they conquer their foes and free Narnia.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: Indiana is back in action, after a 19 year break. This is the latest film about the adventures of Indiana Jones. In this movie Mr. Jones battles the Soviets.
